We LOVE providing fresh local veggies to our communities, and I am always finding ways to extend the season. Last winter we experimented with growing in our greenhouses over the winter with great success. We had leafy greens all the way until March with temperatures down to 10 F.  We are excited to announce that we will be growing vegetables into the depths of winter! Join our winter vegetable CSA subscription to have fresh produce for as long as the farm can provide! We are building TWO NEW GREENHOUSES specifically for this CSA.

Each month will include 3 weeks of CSA pick ups of fresh, in season veggies over the winter months. The fourth month of each month will be off for customers to catch up on their produce and give the farmers a break for holidays. 

The details: 

• Receive 5-6 veggies each week.
• Pick up dates:
• week of November 4, 11, and 18th
• week of December 2, 9, and 16th
• week of January 6, 13, and 20th
• Monthly fee of $83
• Drop out whenever you would like
• **Each member is committed for the full month paid. No refunds.

• On Farm (Thursdays)
• Freeport (Wednesdays)
• Bellevue (Wednesdays)
• Butler (Thursdays)
• Sewickley (Thursdays)
• Penn Hills (Wednesdays)

• OPTIONAL ADD ON WINTER FLOWER CSA
• We are teaming up with Brynhill Flower Farm (Prospect, PA) for winter local flowers. They will be providing a flower share of fresh lily and tulip bouquets grown right here in Western PA during the deep winter. So cool! **Details coming soon!!

What sort of veggies can be grown in the winter? 

Surprisingly, some plants can survive our PA winters with some protection, and many other veggies can be stored for safekeeping until ready to consume. Winter makes many vegetables sweeter, including delicious carrots and spinach. I know you’ll love it!

What risk is involved for the members?

Like our other CSA programs, the shareholders do carry some risk by joining the winter CSA. By joining the winter CSA, you are joining us in our bounties and losses. We have designed the winter CSA as a monthly subscription so as to lessen the risk shareholders take as winter can be very unpredictable. There are several storage crops we will have available if bad weather hits (carrots, beets, potatoes, winter squash).
